Changing Trend in Universities

We, at GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini, believe that it is extremely important to maintain a connection within different levels of education. With ever-so-dynamic nature of universities, it has become mandatory to be aware about these changes especially when we gear up to send our 12th graders to the world of universities. On 1 October, 2018, GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini, organised a workshop on “Changes in University Of Delhi and IP University along with other top universities.” Dr. GS Tuteja, Deputy Dean, Student Welfare, University of Delhi and Mr. Jitin Chawla, Founder and Director of Centre for Career Development, Delhi enlightened over 300 students and teachers of different schools who attended the workshop.

 

Robin Raina Foundation visit (NGO visit)

Through its Rotary Club, GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini, believes in creating compassionate human beings. On 29 September, 2018, 14 student volunteers from Rotary Club along with teachers Ms. Aastha Kochar, Ms. Rajbala Yadav and Mr. Ajay went to Robin Raina Foundation, Bawana. Children at Robin Raina Foundation couldn’t contain their joy when the student and teacher volunteers conducted various activities like music, theatre, dance and craft along with language and maths activities at the NGO. Volunteers felt deeply privileged for having contributed rice, tea, salt, milk, mugs and board games to the NGO for a noble cause.

 

International Peace Day

United Nation marked September 21 as ‘International Peace Day’ to encourage the world to work together towards the goal of world-wide peace. GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini, believes in inculcating the value of peace among our students who can further bring peace and harmony to this world if taught to hold candles of hope instead of guns of war at the right time. On 20 September, 2018 students of classes pre-school- II celebrated International Peace day at school by getting involved in various activities. The day started with everyone greeting each other with hugs followed by art activities like making cards containing messages of harmony and creating a beautiful craft of Dove, the symbol of peace. The day ended with a session of meditation as a step towards building peaceful and calm citizens of tomorrow.

 

Ganesh Chaturthi

We, at GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini, believe in celebrating all the festivals of India that help us keep connected to our roots. Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival that celebrates the homecoming of Lord Ganesha as he leaves Mount Kailasha and enters our homes to bless us with happiness and prosperity. On 12 September, 2018 students of classes Pre-school – II welcomed Lord Ganesha with much fervour and excitement. Little Goenkans worshipped the idol of Ganpati ji and decorated the idols of Ganesha with beautiful mirrors, glitters and sparkles. They also saw many stories of Ganesha to know its significance and other associated rituals and traditions.

 

Bhartiya Vikas Parishad Award

On 14 September 2018, Bhartiya Vikas Parishad felicitated the Principal, Headmistress,  teachers and scholars for exemplary academic performance and setting benchmarks for the future.

It was a noble and empowering initiative taken up by Bhartiya Vikas Parishad, an organization which works towards cultural and value based upliftment of the society, to honour the Principal and teachers and instill in students the virtues of the Guru- Shishya tradition followed in India.

The Ceremony began with acknowledgement of special contribution of our Principal Dr. Shipra Kumar towards educating the future citizens of India. It was followed by felicitating the Head Mistress for nurturing the young minds into positive individuals.

The Teachers received recognition and appreciation for their relentless efforts in mentoring and tutoring the students of classes X and XII for CBSE Board Examinations 2017-18 and achieving excellent result for their students and school. Kerala Relief

Natural calamities strike without a warning and leaves mankind in a state of shock and devastation. Each member of GD Goenka, Sector-9, Rohini joined their hands together to help our fellow countrymen suffering due to the devastating floods in Kerala. G.D. Goenka Sector-9 joined hands with Goonj Foundation to send relief material to the victims. Throughout the month of August all Goenkans contributed food, grains, clothes, medicine and sanitary products to help our brethren in need. It was a great initiative by our students and teachers to provide a helping hand towards this noble endeavor.

 

Teacher’s Day

We, at GD Goenka, Sector-9, Rohini, believe in appreciating the efforts of the driving force behind the success of students. 5th September, 2018, was a day of role reversal at GD Goenka. The students of classes 11th and 12th organized an astounding show for the teachers and teachers enjoyed the mesmerizing performances with great enthusiasm. Teachers also took part in fun-filled activities planned by the students. All the teachers were overwhelmed by the display of love by their students.

 

Grandparent’s Day

Our life is incomplete without the love and guidance of our beloved grandparents. On 7th Sep 2018 GD Goenka, Sector-9, Rohini celebrated grandparents day in the school premises. Students of Pre-school to Class II made hand print craft with their picture pasted on it as a token of love for their grandparents. This day reiterated the Goenkan philosophy of giving utmost respect and love to the grandparents and acknowledging their valuable role in a person’s life.

 

Janmashtami

Janmashtami is the festival commemorating the appearance of Krishna in this world. Janmashtami represents the appearance of hope in the dark night of hopelessness, of the virtue of fortress of vices, through the appearance of Absolute Truth, Krishna.
Janmashtami festival was celebrated with great zeal and pomp by the little Goenkans of the Pre-School Section of our school. Children came dressed in colourful outfits. A mesmerising event was organised which depicted the birth of Krishna by showcasing certain events of the lifecycle of Lord Krishna by our little stars. Children came up with an amazing script showing the events from the birth of Krishna and other hilarious and soulful events of his life with amazing dances on Krishna’s songs which mesmerized the parents of our students in audiences and mainly by our chief guest- Shri Krishan Murari Ji from Iskon Temple (Delhi), our respected Principal ma’am and Headmistress ma’am.
Thus the event came out to be a great success with the commendable efforts of the teachers and the students as well and the kind support of our Principal ma’am.

 

A Visit of the US Delegates

Realising the significance of Education and most importantly Global education where education is not limited to boundaries of a state or a country; instead internet and global universities have led to the expansion of these boundaries in the present globalized world.
GD Goenka Public School, Sec-9, ROHINI welcomed a team of US delegates who represented some of the renowned universities of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Principal Dr. Shipra Kumar and a team of teachers discussed various issues and concerns of parents who sent their children to a foreign university to study. All the US delegates introduced their universities and the courses offered there along with the social environment for the students. The discussion went on from security issues to US policies which directly and indirectly affects the students.
Mr. Girish also explained the career counseling programme which he conducts in different schools for the students.The meeting concluded on a positive note with a further association with the school and the programmes that could be conducted in the near future.
