“Life is a maybe, death is for sure. Sin is the cause, Christ is the cure.”
Good Friday is a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary. Members of many Christian denominations observe Good Friday with fasting and church services. From the early days of Christianity, Good Friday was observed as a day of sorrow and penance, a characteristic that finds expression in the German word “Sorrowful Friday”. It falls on the Friday before Easter Many religious people observe a period of prayerful silence during this time, especially between the hours of noon and 3 P.M. That terrible Friday has been called Good Friday because it led to the Resurrection of Jesus and his victory over death and sin and the celebration of Easter, the very pinnacle of Christian celebrations. Jesus sacrificed his life out of love for his believers and all mankind. His death was the ultimate sacrifice. Despite it being a terrible day in history, the event paved the way for mankind’s salvation, with Jesus being resurrected two days later. GD Goenka Public School, Rohini, Sector 9, wishes all on this Good Friday.
