The auspicious occasion of GURU GOBIND SINGH JAYANTI is also known as the PRAKASH PARV of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He was the tenth and the last Sikh Guru. He was born in Patna in the Sodhi Khatri family. His birth anniversary is also known as Prakash Parv. The date is decided according to the Nanakshahi calendar and is observed in honour and remembrance of the great warrior, poet, philosopher and spiritual master. He formally became the leader and protector of the Sikhs at the age of nine after his father, Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, who was killed by Aurangzeb for refusing to convert his religion.
