NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY is celebrated all over India with great enthusiasm on 28th of February every year in order to commemorate the invention of the Raman Effect in India by the Indian physicist, Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman or Dr. C.V. Raman on the same day in the year 1928. For his great success in the field of science in India, Dr. C.V. Raman was awarded and honoured with the Nobel Prize in Physics in the year 1930. The basic objective of observing National Science Day is to spread the message of importance of science and its application among the people.
